Had enough of the hustle and bustle and need a getaway to recharge your batteries?
Then pack your bags, head to the Blue Mountains and stay at for a couple of days and your mission will be accomplished.
This is exactly what my husband and I did recently, and we loved it!
Located on a quiet street in Katoomba, this Federation style house was built in 1910. The B&B is owned by Peter and Suzanne and features seven rooms, a roomy guest lounge, a beautiful garden and off-street parking.
We arrived just after lunch and were greeted by Peter. He showed us our room, gave us a quick rundown of their B&B, and a brief introduction to the area including popular bush walks, restaurants and what we could do in the nearby towns.
We were pleasantly surprised as we opened the door to our room, which was a Classic Spa room. It was not part of the main house and was located right next to the car park, which made our luggage trips to and from the car much quicker and easier.
What I really liked about this room was that it wasn't part of the main house and therefore there was no noise from other rooms or guests. We heard the occasional car door slam, but that was about it. I especially loved the decor of the room, its cleanliness and its spaciousness. We walked into our elegant room to find the place immaculate with Lindt chocolates on the bed (and we continued to find chocolates each time after our room was cleaned), a great variety of teas and coffees, and biscuits. Upon walking into the bathroom we found a huge long tub and tealight candles. Everything was beautiful, yet homey and comfortable. One great bonus to our room was the intimate and private courtyard, which was perfect for us to unwind with a glass of wine and reflect on the day's activities.
Each morning we walked into the dining area to find Peter at the stove cooking up a storm, Suzanne serving guests and preparing breakfasts, and both of them would make an effort to come and have a chat. They were always keen to know how our day was and what we had planned for the day. The kitchen bench was filled with juices, cereal, fruits, yoghurts, you name it. Plus, we were offered hot breakfasts such as eggs, pancakes, French toast, omelette as well as various sides and toasted breads. We really felt looked after.
The location is fantastic and is extremely close to Echo Point and the town centre. Hairdryer, WIFI, magazines and electric blanket are provided. In addition, should you wish to snuggle in bed watching a DVD, there is a complimentary DVD library in the lounge. Maps, walking guides and tourist information are also available for you to have a look at. And you can also relax with a glass of complimentary Port in the lounge.
Peter and Suzanne are extremely knowledgeable and helpful in regards to what you can do around the area, places you can eat at, and nearby towns to visit. Their attention to detail and professionalism is to be highly commended.
This is easily the best B&B we've ever stayed at. With fantastic rooms, superb service, scrumptious breakfasts, excellent value and the perfect location, you'd have to be mad not to stay there.
