Following on from the very successful Lunch on the Lawns events at Government House held between November 2022 and May 2023, another series is being held commencing this September 2023.
Over the previous series, the attendance by the public amounted to around 2,000, and even on some of rainy days, attendance still was in the hundreds.
For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to visit the grounds or for those of you who wish to re-visit, then you have that chance commencing on the first Friday of the month until May 2024.
Her Excellency, the Honourable Governor of South Australia, Frances Adamson AC and her husband, Rod Bunten have officially invited everyone to walk through the gates, bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or folding chair, and savour the beautiful imposing gardens of Government House on North Terrace in Adelaide's CBD.
Whilst you are enjoying your picnic, entertainment will be provided by a community orchestra between 12 Noon and 2 pm on each of those Fridays.
If a garden tour sounds to your liking, the Friends of the Botanic Gardens will be conducting free guided garden tours of Government House between 10.45 am and 11.45 am on those first Fridays of each month.
Registrations for these tours can be made by reserving your spot/s by ringing 08 8203 9800.
The specific dates for this event are:
Friday 1st September
Friday 6th October
Friday 3rd November
Friday 1st December
Friday 5th January 2024
Friday 2nd February
Friday 1st March
Friday 5th April
Friday 3rd May
What's not to like about entering the spacious grounds and gardens of Government House, which is the oldest continuously used Government House in Australia. You might even get to meet the Governor!
