Coolum Beach is often forgotten in wake of names like Noosa or Mooloolaba. While Noosa, and indeed the other well known beaches are exceptionally beautiful, Coolum offers that little something extra that seems to welcome everyone who visits.

It has long been known as the quintessential little seaside town, but more and more tourists are starting to discover it, and as such, not only does it have a relatively new and uplifted street-scape, the roads are also slowly coming up to scratch.

Lunch at Tickle Park is the perfect way to beat the heat on a warm summer's day. Sitting on the picnic tables overlooking the ocean and catching the breeze, or simply claiming a patch of grass to relax on is the best way to go about this. With plenty of take-away eateries on the main street, you can simply walk the hundred metres or so to grab a bite to eat, then relax and enjoy the view.

With Coolum expanding all the time, there is no shortage of café's and takeaways to choose from. Depending on how far you want to walk you can choose from Fish and Chips at Coolum Seafood, a healthy feast from Raw Energy, Subway, Dominos Pizza, McDonalds, Indian, Thai, the list goes on.

Most places cater for take-away or if you prefer to construct your own lunchtime feast there are a number of BBQ's available.

The kids will have plenty of fun on the children's play area, complete with a huge climbing frame guaranteed to keep the little ones occupied for hours. The beach itself is just a few steps down the hill with the flags usually located somewhere in front of the Surf Club.

While Noosa, and Mooloolaba are undoubtedly the best looking beaches on the coast, Coolum is just as beautiful without the hype and the pretentiousness. At Coolum, everyone is quite happy to just enjoy themselves without worrying about what everyone else is doing. The swimming is safe, the surf is often very good, and a park perfectly suited to relaxing or letting the kids run wild Coolum is definitely the place to be this summer.
