The National Maritime Centre is the place for children to enjoy some Lunar New Year activities in this Year of the Tiger in Darling Harbour. With a range of cultural performances, as well as an exhibition and tours, there's something of interest for the whole family.
Taking place over 3 weekends, you'll be captivated by amazing art installations and trails in a program presented in partnership with the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, the Korean Cultural Centre and the China Cultural Centre.
Here's the schedule:-
Weekend 1 - 28th-30th Jan, 10.30am-4pm
The People's Currency - an exhibition and performance by Eugenia Lim
Creative art workshops in the Lunar Maker space
K-POP performances and dance workshops from cover groups 9 Bit and Magic Circle
4A Kids Calisthenics workshop
Weekend 2 - 5th-6th Feb, 11am-3pm
Chinese Cultural Centre art workshops, music and dance performances
Weekend 3 - 12th-13th Feb, 12pm-4.30pm
Big Cats, Small Cats, Ships Cats - Printmaking with Amy Ge
Lion, dragon and martial arts performances
4A Kids: Make Snacks tasty workshop

Mandarin-language tours - these will have you experiencing the fascinating maritime history of Australia with your expert Mandarin-speaking guide
Lunar Seas Kids Activity Trail - sees you adventuring around the museum, being inspired by Lunar animals and constellations, with a lucky dip prize pack available when you complete the trail
Much of the above is free with museum entry. You will need to
register or book some items due to Covid restrictions. You will also need to be fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption to participate.
Be sure to bring along your NSW Discover vouchers if you have them, as they are accepted here. There are also a number of other events on at the museum that coincide with Lunar Sea, such as Sea of Light and Ocean Lab, that children and adults alike will enjoy. A 'See it All' ticket is available. One adult Discover voucher will get you into everything, whilst children 4-15yrs are $15 each (under 4's free).
