Preston Market at 30 The Centreway, Preston is going all out to celebrate the Lunar New Year on Sunday 29 January 2023 from 10am to 3pm. Welcome the Year of the Rabbit with traditional Chinese celebrations. Live performances throughout, the CMS Lion Dance Team will be there at 10am to entice good luck and fortune with a store blessing followed by a traditional Lion Dance that'll captivate you.
Ex-MasterChef contestant, Chris Tran will be giving cooking demonstrations from 11am at his live dumpling workshop. Free tastings and fortune cookies (while stock lasts) will be available after the demonstration alongside delicious traditional Asian dishes and drinks from traders such as South Melbourne Dim Sims, 888 Street Food, T's Vietnamese Classics plus more. Kids activities run between 11am and 1pm. Test your Tai Chi skills with Jinli Wushu-Tai Chi at two 20-minute sessions from 12:00pm, followed by live entertainment from Melbourne Chinese Performing Arts from 1-1.30pm - Chinese Singer Sabrina Chou will perform from 1.45pm and Chinese Magician, Johnson Hsu from 2.20pm. A couple of pop-up stalls will be operating eg. Pour Some Suga - fairy floss and Lydia Illustrations.
