Lanterns and Lights - Celebrate Chinese New Year in style

Celebrate Lunar New Year in Moreton Bay on 6 February 2016.

The Moreton Bay Shire Council is hosting the event to be held at Caboolture.

Jam packed full of free entertainment, traditional music and dance, Asian-infused cultural experiences and delicious traditional Asian food presented in an Eat Street style of food tasting.

It's a treat for the tastebuds, sample a variety of flavours or choose to fill up on your favourite.

There will be traditional dance, cultural displays and other activities.

To top the night off, there will be a grand fireworks display.

Chinese New Year is official 8 February this year. Under the Chinese calendar, 2016 is officially the 4713th Chinese Year and is the Year of the Monkey.

Across the world the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year celebration, conjures up images of bright paper lanterns, pretty lights and amazing food.

Join the Moreton Bay Shire to celebrate this sparkling night. In case of rain or for updates on this event see the Council's event Facebook page.

The event is being held in the Town Square, King Street, Caboolture, from 4pm to 8pm on 6 February. Public transport is available via Translink.

The Lunar New Year celebration had the potential to be more successful had most of the food vans not cancelled at the last minute!! Frustrating for organisers! However, the entertainment was excellent!
