Let the fun times begin. The City of Sydney has a packed program of events to celebrate the Lunar Festival. Look forward to engaging, community minded events that are colourful and joyous from 10-18 February 2024 at various places.

  • Sat 10 Feb 5-10pm - A free event, kick off your Lunar New Year celebrations along Dixon St, at the Haymarket Street Festival . There's a lot happening in the five hours, including a 20m long traditional Chinese Dragon winding its way through the streets. Look forward to 25 market stalls along Sussex and Thomas Streets, including two food stalls offering Filipino brioche and sweet treats, and authentic Malaysian Penang street food. You'll find food trucks on Harbour street and Little Hay Street, and a plethora of performers on the Main Stage. Just follow the link for the schedule filled with multicultural entertainment.
  • Fri 16 to Sun 18 Feb (various times) - Another free event, look forward to the Dragon Boats Festival at Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Park, Sydney. It's three exciting days packed with competition, music and entertainment that includes an opening and closing ceremony. Come along to enjoy the fierce spectacle of Dragon Boating taking over Darling Harbour. Again for more details, timeframes etc, follow the link .
  • Sat 17 Feb 2-6.15pm - Cultural groups will take to the Centennial Hall stage for Lunar Spectacular ; a vibrant event of dance, music and song. Various cultural groups will perform, and you'll find the program schedule; you got it! - via the given link . Come along and enjoy performance groups from Chinese, Korean, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese communities sharing their cultures as they welcome in The Year of the Dragon.

  • Sat 24 Feb 11am to 1pm - The Great Dragon Race is a different kind of race along George St, Haymarket, and it's free. You'll be given 8 tasks (yet to be revealed, so stay in touch via the given link) to complete, and the first 20 people successful at it will receive their very own 3D-printed dragon! Clues will be posted on the page (link given) at 11am Sat 24 Feb 2024. Start and finish times as given, unless all 20 dragons are collected prior.

  • Until Sun 28 Jan 2024 - Lunar NY Photography Competition - ticketed event for under 16 and 16 and over categories.
  • Everyday till Thu 29 Feb 2024 from 9am to 6pm - Lunar NY at Great Heights - Climb to the top of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and reach new heights for the NY.
  • Sun 4 Feb 12-3pm - Lion Dance Kids Roam Chinatown - An energetic street celebration filling streets with the spirit of the Year of the Dragon.
  • Mon 5 to Thu 29 Feb 12pm to 8am everyday - Lunar NY Afternoon Tea - Ticketed at $78 per person, enjoy a special-edition Lunar NY Afternoon Tea featuring sweet and savoury delights.
  • Mon 5 to Thu 29 Feb 11pm to 12am - Lunar NY Cocktails - so you can raise a toast to the Year of the Dragon with unique cocktails at The Bar at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney.

  • Mon 5 to Thu 29 Feb 12-3pm - Lunar NY Dining Experiences - Bring in all the goodness the NY has to offer with a colourful Prosperity Toss Salad, which you will be 'tossing' literally.
  • Sat 10 to Sun 25 Feb on weekends from 10am-4pm - Lunar Sea is filled with a program of performances, art, workshops and kids activities on the weekends within given dates. Aside from given link, you'll find further program details here .

  • Scour the website for other fun activities outside of Lunar NY, for while the kids are still on holidays, like - Summerific which runs everyday from 12am to 11.55pm until Sun 4 Feb, and it's free. Water play areas, pedal boat rides, Pixar Putt, performances and more, it has it all to entertain the kids. The Inner West Kids Fest is for one day only on Sat 17 Feb from 3-7pm for an epic afternoon of family fun. Performances, test your play skills, local food stalls and many other activities to enjoy.
