Welcome The Chinese Year of the Rat
Join in a weekend of festivities to welcome in the Lunar New Year at Brisbane's Chinatown from 1-2 February 2020. The Chinese New Year officially begins on January 25th, 2020, and ends on February 4th.
Chinatown Mall in Fortitude Valley will be a spectacle of red lanterns to welcome the Year of the Rat with activities, including:
lion and dragon dancers
roving street performers
The free event will run on Saturday 1 February 2020 from 4-9pm and Sunday 2 February 2020 from 12-5pm.
Just head to Duncan Street, Fortitude Valley.
The Rat is the first of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar and is said to represent vitality.
