Everyone is welcome at the Lunar New Year celebrations to be held at the
Great Stupa of Universal Compassion at Myers Flat near Bendigo on Saturday 21st February from 10.00am until 3.00pm.
The program for the day:
10.00 am Start
10.30am – 11.00am Join the Relics Procession from the Exhibition Centre to the Stupa. The procession will be led by Molly Wiseman playing a Conch, Lion Dancers and dancers from CV Dance Studio.
11.00am – 12.00pm Visitors are invited to receive very special Relic Blessings by Ven. Lozang Tenzin
12.00pm - 12.30pm Join the Prayers for the new year by the monks from different traditions
12.30pm – 1.00pm Enjoy Birth of the Buddha musical by CV Dance Studio
1.00pm – 1.30pm Listen to a Dharma talk by Ven. Gyatso from Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery
1.30pm – 2.15pm Visitors are invited to receive very special Relic Blessings by monks from Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery
2.15 pm – 2.45 pm Join the Relics Procession back to the Exhibition Centre to the Stupa
3.00 pm end.
During the day visitors can write their new year wishes and hang them on Stupa walls, try their luck on the Lucky Gifts tree, make flower and incense offerings, receive information on the Stupa and Buddha and enjoy traditional Vietnamese food.
For the kids there are craft and colouring workshops.
While the Great Stupa site is usually open for visitors from 9am - 5pm weekdays and 10:30am to 5.00pm weekends and public holidays, the Lunar New Year celebration is a great opportunity to visit at a festive time.
