Char koay teow with duck egg
As its name suggests,
Lulu's Char Koay Teow is staying true to Penang street food and serving up
char koay teow the original way. This dish consists of flat rice noodles stir-fried with prawns, bean sprouts, Chinese sausage, etc over high heat. Luxurious versions include duck egg or abalone, which can be found here too. I particularly enjoyed the noodles with duck eggs. It was truly sumptuous.
Besides
char koay teow, Lulu's also offers other noodle dishes such as
koay teow th'ng,
white curry mee,
jawa mee,
loh mee and many more. The
koay teow th'ng comes with duck drumstick, minced pork patty, fishball and fried fishcake in a clear soup. The
jawa mee is drenched in a rich velvety sweet potato gravy and topped with crispy fritters.
Lulu's is located at 27-31 Hardware Lane in the city. Opening hours can be found on their
Facebook page . They have recently opened a second store in Chadstone as well, so if that's more convenient for you, do check it out instead. Both stores serve authentic dishes.
