While strolling down Queensberry Street I came across a new business, not quite opened and not quite closed. Inside the large glass windows I saw a lady with a fire engine red smart bob hairstyle, cleaning a coffee machine, so I popped in. Little did I know I had met Panagiota Kagkali the creator of LULU's Café & Gallery . 'Pana' warmly welcomed me into her café, made me a latte and showed me LULU's upstairs gallery space.


Panagiota and her business partner Roger Karge run two businesses; LULU Café & Gallery and Urban Dweller Projects. They are new on the block in North Melbourne, but not new to business. Both Pana and Roger have extensive experience working, travelling and living around the globe, and now bring their eclectic ideas to the villagers of North Melbourne.


North Melbourne has many contenders for 'coffee-foodie' fanatics, but I suggest LULU has the package; warm, bright, intimate venue, friendly staff, and an all-day 'easy to navigate' menu. Resident chef Paolo Tancredi Arlotta handpicks organic ingredients to create amazing flavours to whet your palate to leave you feeling physically and spiritually satisfied.


Each table features quality literature and artistic magazines for your reading pleasure. Sounds good? But did I mention coffee?


North Melbourne's currency is coffee; it's a deal breaker for patron loyalty. While there are many caffeinated establishment's LULU's gives the whole package; intimacy, quality, warm hospitality and culture. There's no pressure to 'turn tables' and you can read a book if you want too, write your next novel or chime into a conversation about art and travel.


LULU also provides regular live music, art exhibitions, performances, and cultural experiences to put fire in your heart. But the best kept secret is the story behind LULU Café & Gallery; but I guess you'll just have to visit and find that one out for yourself. See you at LULU soon?
