Boasting 18 tap beers, an extensive wine list and an impressive cocktail list, the Lucky Shag is an idyllically located on Perth's waterfront. I visited this bar on several occasions during the daytime and enjoyed a reasonably priced pint considering I was sitting in the sunshine taking in the breathtaking view of the Swan River.

This is a walk in only bar unfortunately, so if there's a big party of you, they wont take a booking. However, functions will be available as of next year after the completion of an extension on their premises. For tourists and visitors to Perth, this bar lies 30m seconds away from the Bell Tower and from the set off point for many a boat trip for dolphin watching in Mandurah or chartered fishing.

They have an impressive food menu which has plenty of seafood options, some veggie options and some generic pub food classics. They also have small snacks, which was all I could afford as a backpacker!

The staff were friendly and contentious, allowing us to sample many of the tap beers before we decided on our favourite tipple. They had a beer of the month promotion, which at the time was a great mango beer. They also showed live sport which was a bonus for us as we were sport enthusiasts.

With Australia day creeping up, this is a great location to drink, chill and check out the Swan River firework display!
