Get your Mexican fix here Amigos

Lucky Lupitas is a Mexican/ Latin American restaurant which has been buzzing and busy since its opening in February 2012. I am not just following this place up with yet another rave review, I am literally warning you it may be difficult to get a table. If you don't have a booking, I suggest arriving early to ensure you aren't waiting on a table, especially on busy weekends.

The restaurant is located right across from Flinders Medical Centre and a safe walking distance from Flinders Uni. Upon arriving at Lucky Lupitas, you'll find a crafty little interior suited perfectly to the Latin American/Mex theme thankfully foregoing the tacky piñatas and sombrero over-kill you usually find. The place has a very authentic feel to it.

It all seemed easy enough with the restaurant being so close to my University and its very persuasive neon sign saying "Eat Here" but the real challenge came when trying to tackle the menu.

Featuring items such as "Camarones en salsa de guajillo-naranja" and "Quesadilla de Pollo y Championes" I have to admit I was a little over whelmed when trying to understand what it was I was actually ordering. Luckily however they do have helpful translations written on a black board on the wall to help the bi-lingually challenged like myself, along with friendly staff.

I ordered Chilaqulies con pollo, AKA Chicken Nachos which had totopos topped with pulled chicken, salsa, guacamole, black beans & sour cream for $15.90. This was very tasty and quite different from any other nacho dish I had ordered before; different in the way that it didn't taste like a bag of grilled Dorito smeared with a random choice pre-fab 'Mexican' topping. For refreshments I shared a traditional picture of Margaritas which was also delicious.

Despite its occasionally over-crowded atmosphere and it's seemingly jibberish menu, I highly recommend checking this place out, especially since Gringos down at Glenelg has been closed for renovations you'll be able to get your Mexican fix here. It's definitely worth it for the food and the destination décor. I also suggest taking a look at the lighting I found it to be exceptionally funky.

Lucky's is amazing, perfect Cantina, great range of food, for meat and vegos. They do take away too and so fast. Try anything from the menu and you will not be disappointed. Oh and the Sangria and Margaritas..............mmmmmmm
