Lucky Coq: Film Night Tuesday

Essentially, there are only two words to describe Lucky Coq; hip and happening. Situated on the corner of Chapel Street and High Street in Windsor, this exciting and buzzing establishment is a must for students, especially with Swinburne University's Prahran campus literally around the corner. However, it's not exclusive to only students, with people of all ages and occupations welcome. Whether you wear a sharp suit, ironic vintage tweed or an outrageous purple jumpsuit, everyone mixes, guaranteeing pleasant company and plenty of conversation. The music is just as varied, offering an eclectic selection of funky funk, jazzy jazz, hop hipping hip hop and so much more.

Personally, I choose to go twice on a Tuesday, my favourite day by far. Firstly, I'll stop by during my lunch break to devour their famously delicious $4 pizza, have a chat with friends, and if I'm feeling particularly daring, maybe even a beer. There's a huge selection and something for everyone, with vegetarian options and even sweet pizza, complete with chocolate, mascarpone and marshmallows. I usually stick with the Calabrese, which contains some of the best salami I have had outside of Italy. The taste is sublime and the service is quick and efficient, no matter how many customers are there.

Later, I would usually return for Lucky Coq's Film Night, where a diverse collection of films are shown, ranging from High Fidelity to Clerks. Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown was a particular highlight, especially when accompanied by a beer and large crowd. Even with the lively party music going on upstairs, the downstairs speaker system is loud enough to carry all of Tarantino's fast paced, hilarious dialogue. It's cinema in a bar setting, what could be better?

I would highly recommend Lucky Coq, not only on a Tuesday, but almost every other night. It's regularly open until 3am and you will always leave happy, full, content and maybe even a little enlightened.
