Lucas Loves Cars is an online shop that describes themselves as, "The place to go if you have a little car-crazy boy in your life." They have a wide range of colorful and quality toy cars, trucks, books, crafts and clothing. I hesitate to restrict their range to the male gender, as I have three sons and a daughter. The nature versus nurture debate continues to fascinate me; when my sons do play with dolls or other toys traditionally labelled as "girls' toys," they are usually turning them into some sort of flying vehicle, with a siren. When my daughter gets her hands on vehicles, admittedly a rare occurrence, the vehicles are usually having a tea party or at least conversing. Regardless, any children that you know, that love high quality toys, books, and clothing that may be lacking in pink varieties, will love gifts from Lucas Loves Toys.

Helle and Mark, parents of Lucas and owners of Lucas Loves Cars, found it difficult to find a single source for a wide variety of classic, quality, wooden cars and various other toys, puzzles, and crafts when their son was born. The birth of Lucas birthed Lucas Loves Toys.

Our find was the Automoblox Mini series. My boys are three, three, and seven years old. We decided to give these toys "to Daddy" for Father's Day. I was a bit skeptical of the age suggestion of three-years-old and up; they seemed like they were going to be too complex for three-year-olds, as the car pieces come apart, the tires come off, and they pieces can be interchanged. Boy was I wrong to be skeptical. All of the boys love the cars. I am impressed by the strength and quality of the workmanship and materials. I mentally prepared myself for broken pieces as they rammed and crammed and swapped and stepped on the pieces... and that's just getting them out of the box. They've held up fine; even the plastic bits.

The three cars have just enough details to offer stimulation, and are just neutral enough to leave some to the imagination. Next purchase: the rescue series; I can't wait.

Helle has been nominated for the 2014 AusMumpreneur awards, recognising Mums in business; it's no surprise, as Helle was a dream to work with.
