Eat like a local
BBQ fish and beerlao at the Luang Prabang Night Market
Visiting Luang Prabang, Loas? Make sure to check out the Night Market, open daily from 5pm til 10pm on Sisavangvong Road. Not only is there a variety of cheap souvenirs you can pick up as mementos of your vacation, there is plenty of great food too!
Head to the food district near Kitsalat Road, and feast on local delicacies for under KIP30,000 (around USD4). Many choices including a vegetarian buffet for KIP10,000, take away soup in a bag, steamed and sticky rice, snacks, sweets, and plenty of BBQ meats.
Grab a mix of items to try the diversity of culinary flavours of this beautiful city, at a fraction of the cost you would spend eating the same things at a nearby restaurant! I recommend BBQ, steamed fish (Mok Pa), Mekong River soft seaweed (Kai), lotus root soup, and tofu and mint rice paper rolls. Of course, a few beerlaos to go in hand!
Take a seat on the communal tables, where before long, you are sure to make new friends to share a meal along with stories of the day's adventures.
