I found myself in the CBD during lunchtime recently. Wanting a fast yet healthy option, I decided on sushi. Who knew there were so many sushi choices in the city? Then I spotted LR Sushi (149 Adelaide Street) next to Starbucks.


The scene reminded me of Seinfeld's 'Soup Nazi' episode, with a queue twenty deep. I guessed it must be good if people were willing to line up on their lunch hour. It was. And fortunately the staff were much friendlier than the Soup Nazi.

LR Sushi has a good variety. I didn't linger too long at the display case as I was conscious of the crowd behind me. Hastily, I chose a vegetarian, avocado and fresh salmon, and California roll. I was not disappointed by my selections though. Each roll was tasty, fresh, filling, and cheap. Priced from $2, my three sushi rolls cost $6.50 all together.


Don't let the queue put you off; it moves quickly. To keep up with demand, LR Sushi has three other takeaways in the city: George Street, Felix Street, and Queen Street.
