The Perth Loy Krathong Thai Festival, organised by the Thai - Australian Association of WA, will be held at Ozone Park (Migrant Park), Riverside Drive (Adelaide Terrace end of Causeway) on Sunday 18th November 2012, between 4pm and 8pm.
A family friendly event, the Loy Krathong Thai Festival is an annual celebration of Thai traditions and culture.
The festival is centred around the launching of krathong rafts on a lake at dusk. These hand-made, lotus-shaped receptacles, traditionally made of banana leaves, are filled with food, flowers, coins, incense sticks and candles and are placed on the banks of the river. Together, the floating krathong rafts will create a stunning waterscape.
All are welcome to participate in this tradition and can make a wish or prayer as they launch their krathong raft.
In the lead up to the main event at dusk, Ozone Park will also play host to a Thai Food Bazaar, the Miss Noppamaht Beauty Pageant and a spectacular fireworks display.
