The Chicken Bahn Mi at Lower East is an easy sandwich to get your mouth around. Grilled chicken breast with a generous serve of pork pate (not a fan of pate, but it works well), fried shallots, chilli jam and fresh corriander round out a hefty lunch.

The baguette was fresh and had the right crispy-outer/fluffy-inner that all good breads should. Everything complemented everything else, except for my soy latte: I should have ordered a Vietnamese Iced Coffee.

Served on hipster bread-boards instead of plates, which actually makes it a lot easier to eat.

While it's not the absolute best Chicken Bahn Mi I've ever had (too many to choose from in Melbourne), it's worth a bite when you're craving something a bit different than your standard chicken sandwiches.
