When you think of people raising money for charity, big epic bike rides come to mind. Running across continents. Climbing ridiculously high mountains. Even that dude who
pushed a wheelbarrow across Australia.
Samuel and his sister Connie
How about a unicycle ride, around Australia?
Actor Samuel Johnson from The Secret Life of Us is determined to raise awareness and one million dollars for Breast Cancer, and he is going to do it on one wheel. While he is at it, he might even break the Guinness World Record.
And why is Samuel Johnson risking life, limb not to mention the
potential effect on his manhood to complete this absurd task?
Because his sister Connie is dying.
Connie has fought cancer three times in her life, the first time at the age of 11. Now, at the age of 35 she has breast cancer and it has spread to her lungs, liver and spine.
Samuel made Connie a promise that he would do everything he could to raise awareness and to let everyone know that
the key to survival is early detection. Early detection saved Connie's life twice, and now she is loving mum to two young boys.
Leaving Melbourne on February 15th, Samuel has planned a 15,000 kilometre route around the country. On the road he is prepared to undertake any ridiculous dare people come up with, as long as they are prepared to spread the word about
Love Your Sister.
So far he has been dared to kiss another bloke, rode a bull dressed in a pink tutu and ate a live huntsman spider. There is nothing this man won't do for the cause. He really must love his sister. Although he is drawing the line at eating another live insect. Fair enough.
Breast cancer runs in my family. Early detection has saved the lives of my two aunts so I am 100% behind this amazing man and his epic journey.
