What's not to love about Christmas? It's a chance to get together as a family, share in joy and happiness and celebrate Christmas. This Christmas you can join the Cooper family and see Christmas through their eyes.

Love the Coopers explores what many of us probably feel about Christmas, but just don't want to admit. Led by the experienced actors Diane Keaton and John Goodman and with narration by Steve Martin, this movie takes us on the Christmas Eve journey of four generations of the Cooper family as they endeavour to get together to celebrate Christmas. Each character has their own journey of exploration leading up to the dinner, which might be the most uncomfortable evening you've every been a part of.

The movie has its funny moments, but seems to have been put together because someone needed to make a Christmas movie this year and left it until the last minute. Rather than exploring anything new, the movie is really a cliched family drama reinvented, with a bewildering array of misfit characters. Even the family dog has an emotional eating disorder.

The movie has a great line up of actors in addition to the lead cast, including Alan Arkin, Olivia Wilde, Jack Lacy, Ed Helms and Amanda Seyfried, who all do what they can with their dysfunctional characters. If you wish to fill in a couple of hours and escape to the air conditioned comfort of a theatre this holidays, then go right ahead. Maybe have some egg-nog before hand though!

The movie opens across Australia on Thursday 26 November.
