Caboolture Regional Art Gallery celebrates all things hearts and flowers with their latest exhibition: LOVE... more than a four letter word, on display until Saturday 9 July 2016. The exhibition pairs historical objects and cutting edge contemporary artworks to showcase the way love has been depicted in art through the ages.
The exhibition also includes two interactive spaces for audience engagement. There is a dark room filled with rose petals and bean bags where you can sit and listen to famous love songs and add your own favorite romantic tune to the playlist.
Another space has a collaborative fence inspired by the 'love lock' public artworks from around the world where people leave evidence of their love in notes and padlocks such as the Pont Des Arts Bridge in Paris.
It's not all sweetness and light however. We know the language of love embraces many emotions from joy and desire to longing and loss. The counterpoint to a great love is the heartbreak felt as a relationship ends and the exhibition recognizes this by exploring love through three different sections: 'the day I met you', 'where you end and I begin' and 'living without you'.
Artist Talks Saturday 11 June from 11am Exhibition Dates 18 May 2016 - 9 July 2016
