Life partners and circus performers Anthony Tran and Fay MacFarlane, collectively known as Circus Sorbet, bring their relationship to the stage in Love Life Laundry at The Pyramid for Adelaide Fringe from the 17th to the 24th of February at 6 PM.

At Perth's Fringe World in January 2020, just prior to the world locking down, Circus Sorbet's Anthony Tran suffered a bone shattering fall, fracturing his spine in four places. With a day job as a personal trainer, and with COVID restrictions forcing him to be homebound, Tran was ideally placed for a swift recovery. He returned, triumphantly, to the stage in 2021. "The important thing was it forced me to rest. I think a mistake with most injuries is people try to rush back to their normal abilities too quickly; they don't allow their bodies to adapt and slowly recover," Tran says.%%" Because I had to stay in isolation, my recovery was fantastic; it was very smooth."

Having pushed his body since his teens, though, the forced inactivity accelerated Tran's personal growth; it also sped up the progression of his relationship with fellow acrobat, Fay MacFarlane. "It actually forced us to move in together. It was the next step in our relationship," Tran says. "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have managed to heal as well as I did [without her]. She was there and provided emotional and physical support."%%

In Love Life Laundry, this deep connection forged through shared tragedy, training and triumphs, is faithfully depicted on stage."The show really reflects who we are when we're together. I remember having some friends watching the show and because we're always together, we live together, we train together, all those little quirks come through in the show, there's a real authenticity, " Tran says.

While combining the personal and the professional can lead to some arguments during rehearsals, Tran revels in his Fringe love story."I always compare it to my friends who have 9 to 5 jobs because Fay and I have a much more flexible schedule. We don't to have to come home to schedule time to be together. It's always easier to find time with each other. The problem is now maybe too much time together," Tran jokes.

Tickets for opening night on the 17th of February are a perfect Valentine's Day gift as audiences receive a complimentary champagne and a Valentine's treat with their ticket.
