Love Desire & Riches, the Fashion of Weddings exhibition is a precious collection of over 50 rarely seen wedding gowns and accessories from the National Trust Collection. As the title of the exhibition suggests, wedding fashion can be a symbolic representation of romance and love.
The exhibition, currently being held at Old Government House in Parramatta, is a mixture of old and new gowns spanning over 200 years from early 19th century through to the modern era. Old Government House in Parramatta is Australia's oldest public building, which itself listed as a World Heritage Site. I found it a perfect location for this spectacular exhibition.

The cornerstone of the exhibition showcases beautiful gowns from iconic films, such as the red dress worn by Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, accompanied by Ewan McGregor's suit, and Carey Mulligan's wedding gown from The Great Gatsby. Adding to it, Toni Collette's gown from Muriel's Wedding is also on display. With Toni Collette's successful performance in this movie, it turned her to the road of stardom.
If you've been a long time fan of home-grown drama "Home and Away", you would be delighted to take this opportunity to see the beautiful gown that Kate Ritchie worn in this TV drama series.
Accompanying the exquisite wedding dresses and bridal gowns, a wide array of accessories is also exhibited for your appreciation.
A tribute should be made to the designers; they are the backbone of all these dedicate and graceful beautiful dresses made to suit the brides' personal preferences and styles. Some of the pieces were made from leading designers include Collette Dinnigan and Carla Zampatti.
