It first began as a farm owned by the Bell family in the 1850's. The family ran the farm for 100 years, and today it is a working example of what life was like before electricity and tractors.

Sunday, March 30, Sunday April 27 and Sunday May 25 are Lost Traditions days. From 10am-4pm you will be able to see the working horses, sheep being sheared, watch how wood was turned and butter was churned using manual implements. Via talks and exhibitions, workshops, tours and other events, you will get a feel of what life looked, tasted, felt and smelled like way back when.

Artists will also be taking these skills and putting a modern twist on them.

There will be live music to light your way, homemade jams to buy and a sausage sizzle, ice cream and fairy floss. Admission is $15/12 for adults, $9 for children and $35 for a family of two adults and two children. Entry also covers admission to the maize maze.

Coming up: Easter Fun Day on Sunday, 20 April 2014

Easter egg hunt! Having an Easter egg hunt on a working farm poses problems - animals and chocolate do not mix very well. So instead, cardboard Easter eggs will be placed all over the farm for kids to collect. Bring them back to the Easter Fun HQ and exchange them for the real stuff - chocolate Easter eggs!

i had seen the gulf on another post, and thought - "when we're in the area".
well, we were in the area easter sunday - after visiting the chocolate factory.
we spent hours here and could easily have spent many more hours here. my children loved the way the cottage was set up, with information not only on posters, but printed in unusual places. we also loved that the information wasnt a history lesson from a text book, but rather more like diary entries.
the farm was full of exciting buildings, and a wonderful trip back in time.
the children can visit the live chickens and horses as well.
we will be going back for lost traditions day, so the children can see the equipment in action.
this is a fantastic visit, take a picnic and enjoy it by the hay shed while listening to some music.
allow enough time to also visit the adjoining maize maze, and make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes.
