Lost My Heart CD - Cover Art by Sholeh Wolpe
Lost My Heart is the latest album by Internationally acclaimed Brisbane vocalist, Ingrid James. From the big brassy opening of "Zigaboogooloo" to the haunting finish with Albinoni's "Adagio in G Minor", this album is a journey to be thoroughly enjoyed. The eleven tracks draw on varied influences including jazz standards, funky samba, Brazilian bossa nova, classical and folk.
Late last year, Ingrid teamed up with San Gabriel 7 and Jazz Trombonist of the Year, Bill Watrous to record the album at Tri-Tone Studios, California. San Gabriel 7 are a popular Los Angeles based jazz/funk septet, featuring three horns. Their energy works well with Ingrid's versatile style to create a fun, swinging album. I really like the sentiment in the title track, "Lost My Heart" - a song Ingrid co-wrote with Brisbane colleague, Louise Denson. See Ingrid's website here for samples from the album and availability.
