I'm a part time actor and part time writer living in Perth. I love being on stage. I love going out with friends, doesn't matter what we do
You'll laugh and cry at these 3 plays
Many who haven't been to theatre, dread being asked by friends or family to go sit through a couple of hours of people prancing around on a stage, that's the beauty of one act plays. They are shorter, normally a max of 40 minutes, so an evening out you can see 2 or 3 different productions.
Laughing Horse Productions has decided to go with this idea and is holding 3 sessions of their award-winning one act plays in late November. These sessions are great for the theatre novice, who'd like to try a few different theatre genre's, with 3 shows on offer, called Lost In Theatre.
First up is Love and Other Flushes by Hugh O'Brien, directed by Kelly van Geest and starring Peter Neaves, Gael Campbell-Young, Sam Barnett and Nicola Chapman. Justin (Sam) and Melissa's (Nicola) marriage is on the brink and they have come to Barb (Gael) and her husband for an emergency counseling session. Problem is that Barb has ended her marriage of 28 years and kicked her husband out. Then right before the young couple arrives, the witty plumber (Peter) arrives to fix the toilets.

Secondly there's Cut It Out by Trevor Suthers, directed by Adam Salathiel and starring sisters Emmalee, Phillippa and Jaime Bialas. Claire has been a self-harmer since the death of her twin sister. Why does she feel guilty, and why does her older sister feel guilty too? Why can't they connect over this common bond? Will they ever connect?
And finally we have a revival of the 2012 production of Outside the Box by JPS Yates, also directed by Adam Salathiel and starring most of the original cast, Jaquelyn Prosper, Nicola Chapman, Sophie Prober, Cally Zanik, Alison Arrowsmith and Natasha Stiven. Christmas is just around the corner and word has it that some of the toys may be ejected from the toy box to make way for the incoming Christmas presents. The toys are one edge, even more so when they learn that Teddy is first on the chopping block....
The Original Cast of Outside The Box
All these productions have had success with all the local one act festivals in WA both this year and back in 2012 for Outside the Box including Best Production, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Character Actor, Runner-Up Best Senior Youth Production and a People's Choice Award.
