Update October 26th 2014
This wonderful little restaurant has shut it doors, and is up for sale. Still fully furnished with it's tables still set, something sad has happened here.
Argentinian & Mexican food, an unexpected delight
I had heard Argentinian meat cooked on an open grill was to die for, but I wasn't really convinced it could be that good; after all we already buy our meat from the Alex Watsons at the Vic Market, so we know what good meat is!
Our friends were also very sceptical after all recent experiences at Taco Bill's, which didn't really leave a good memory. But everyone loves nachos, so we did have a fall back position if the food on the menu didn't appeal.
The front of Los Argentinos Charcoal Grill Restaurant
We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and were surprised to find a long table including a couple of families with quite a few children; I'm pleased to say that the decor of the restaurant managed to absorb most of extraneous sound. The staff were all very nice and willing to describe the intricacies of the menu and make recommendations if asked.
We began with "Nachos Metate" which was familiar, but a cut above those I have tasted before, and then we ordered "Parrillada Mixta Argenina" for two. Not only was the main served in a interesting way - in it's own hot box - the mixed meat was served with three sauces that could be added to the meat at your discretion. Everything was delicious!
If you haven't been, you need to go and take everyone with you who you know, as there will be something for everyone, including the kids.
Comments on the menu The descriptions on the menus were a bit vague for the Argentinian portion of the menu, the Mexican items however were very clearly described, but ask the waiters; they are only to pleased to help with further details.
Booking There was steady flow of clientele while we were there, we booked, but we would probably have been okay if we hadn't.
