After a sell-out season in London's West End last year, Michael Flatley's extravaganza, Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games, launches its Australian tour in Perth, before travelling to Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney.
The Perth leg of the tour commences at Crown Theatre on Tuesday, September 15th through to Sunday, September 20th for a total of 8 spectacular performances.
Lord of the Dance productions have enthralled more than 60 million people in 68 countries around the world since Michael Flatley introduced Irish dance into the global spotlight more than 21 years ago. I remember seeing Lord of the Dance years ago and the show was absolutely spectacular. The dancing was breathtaking, the footwork was mesmerising and I loved the lively and energetic music.
This theatrical phenomenon has a story based on old Irish folklore, telling a tale of good vs evil. The passionate love story is expressed through spectacular dance that is rooted in traditional Irish dance that has evolved over 2,000 years. But there is nothing old and dusty about the Lord of the Dance. This show is explosive and mesmerising, with amazing and ground-breaking new technology and special effect lighting. There are spectacular holographs, dancing robots, acrobatics.
The London Theatre.co.uk raves about the performance of the troupe, of 34 of the world's most magnificent Irish dancers saying, "your jaw is in your lap watching their feet move almost as fast as sound itself" and describes the show as, "a 5-star evening of entertainment."
