I remember as a child brass bands toured different towns and also held competitions in the towns. You always knew or worked with someone who played in a band and these band events created a lot of interest from residents, as well as out-of-towners who came to listen.

On Tuesday 14th September 2021, the Brisbane City Council is presenting a special series of Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts for the Brisbane Festival. It is now twenty-five years since the release of the film Brassed Off[/LINK and to celebrate this event, the [LINK=https://www.queenslandconservatorium.com.au/conservatorium-big-band-3/]Queensland Conservatorium Brass Band], which will be conducted by Howard Taylor, will be performing a selection of the works from this film.

In 2019, the Con Brass Band performed at City Hall as part of the Lunchtime at the Proms concert with audiences moved to tears by 'Danny Boy'. It was one of the best-received shows with multiple standing ovations. The Brassed Off Concert will have a different repertoire except for a repeat of the much-loved Danny Boy.

This event is one not to be missed, so get in early to register your attendance through Eventbrite . The concert is being held at Brisbane City Hall, 64 Adelaide Street, Brisbane from 12 Noon to 1.00pm. Free Entry.
