The Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts have been running on Tuesday lunchtimes for decades in our glorious City Hall main auditorium. And best of all is that they are absolutely free. I have lost count of the number of concerts I have been to in the City Hall. The upcoming Tribute Concert for Donald Hall promises to be a very special concert.
For over two decades, harpist, pianist, Mozart maverick and lover of Shakespeare's shenanigans, Donald Hall has captivated and enchanted audiences of this concert series. His mastery of his instruments, his passion, and his unique ability to create immediate rapport and share his knowledge with his audiences has endeared him to thousands of music lovers over the years.
Brisbane's Beautiful City Hall (May Cross)
Sadly Donald passed away in January, and this concert originally intended to feature Donald's group "Fool's Errand", has now become a celebration of his contribution to this concert series. His original work, along with music he loved, will be performed by an array of Queensland's finest musicians and singers. Included in the line-up are Spanish classical guitarist Andrew Veivers, harpist Nicole Tate, cabaret artist Annie Lee and a choir directed by Erin Murphy. Also featured is the "Fool's Errand" ensemble featuring Eugenie Costello, Danielle Bentley, Tom Adeney and actor Eugene Gilfedder, along with many more special guests.
Come and enjoy this exceptional cast of performers to honour the life of Donald Hall and his amazing contribution to the music-lovers of this city. Doors will open at 11.00 am with concert starting at 12.00 noon sharp. Although the concert series is FREE, it is ticketed and seats are limited so be quick. Ticket sales for this event will close Monday 26 July at 1.00 pm. Get your ticket here.
