I've always liked Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He was amazing in Inception, 50-50, and The Dark Knight Rises. So when trailers of Loopers started showing in cinemas, I was really excited. Really excited. After all, Bruce Willis was starring with him. Bruce Willis. The legendary actor who starred in Die Hard and RED. That's not all, Emily Blunt (who, I personally feel, is a really funny woman) was starring too. Simply put, I couldn't wait for it.
The moment the movie started I knew it was a serious movie. So, so unlike The Avengers. You could feel that this movie doesn't think twice to include gore scenes, which are not as bad as Saw or anything, but I'm not a very big fan of that. Honestly, it was a good movie. The actors and actresses acted really well, and I'd have to give kudos for the casting director for choosing the child in the movie. How they found such a perfect child for such a complicated role, I will never know. But it was a dark, dark, movie. Which is not really my thing.
Overall, I'd give the movie maybe a 6 or a 7. The plot's good, the actors and actresses are good, but it's just not my cup of tea-- it's something I personally won't watch twice. Who knows, I'm all about fairies and unicorns after all. However, if you're indeed looking for a serious movie that will get you thinking, this might just be what you're looking for.
