Only open on weekends (if you count lazy Friday nights as part of the weekend), Loop Roof has a low-key atmosphere but it's no dive. The perfectly landscaped rooftop garden is the perfect place to lose yourself in delicious cocktails. The open air setting is sure to be a hit this summer.
Loop Bar is on the ground floor, but there are plenty of businesses in the building separating Loop from its roof. There are three floors worth of stairs to conquer before arriving at the adorable roof area.
Loop Roof is all the way at the top of this building.
I was lucky enough to go to the Loop Roof launch event. The bartender reckoned there were about 75 people there at its peak, out of a capacity of 99. Despite seeming to be a modestly sized space, it did not feel cramped at all with that many people. The city views from the rooftop just add to the laidback atmosphere. You can spot the cute Madame Brussels balcony just a few doors away.
The drinks menus are in kitsch photo albums. I noticed quite a few of the people there confused looking for a menu, not thinking that the flip books in front of them may hold what they were looking for. Perhaps those people had already downed too many of the delicious cocktails.

I tried the Strawberry Fields Forever cocktail and its bitter cousin, the Luna Loco. The Strawberry Fields Forever was pleasantly sweet; the vodka and gin in it almost undetectable. It tasted weak, but taste can be deceptive. The Luna Loco, which was characterised by apricot brandy and orange bitters, tasted quite strong by contrast. Perhaps the bartender overdid it on the bitters. The cocktails were served in regular drinking glasses, rather than fancy cocktail glassware.

The bartender took about ten minutes to make the cocktails- and the wait wasn't for dilly-dallying. He carefully measured out quantities of each ingredient, taking his time to make sure they were just right. He even freshly cut up the decorative strawberry. He did say that it was his first day on the job, so perhaps by the time you visit he will be expertly whipping together drinks in a matter of seconds.
