As winter blows colder and colder in Melbourne, art finds a place in people's minds as they are fighting to escape from the chill. Those kind of moments are when you forget about the cold, take your good old globes and scarf and find yourself outside walking through the lanes in search of something to do, fighting against the inertia of staying home, of be conquered by mother nature. That's when you understand the concept of "a place."

As vibrant as Melbourne's CBD is, you can always find a place like The Loop Bar , a neat, contemporary-style lounge, in all words - a project art space and bar. Besides its outstanding décor and service, which easily immerses your senses in a relaxed atmosphere between neon lights, it supports local visual artists, providing a place for them to project their visions and share with the audience.

Whilst visiting the Loop Bar one evening, I found the pleasant surprise of a screening of eight short films by the artist Christos Linou. The compilation of short animated films displayed over one hour and a half, were interesting to appreciate, fairly easy to enjoy and kept the patrons entertained.

By exploring the techniques of animation and the always exotic experimental art taste, the place managed to transform a cold, boring winter weekday into just a good day. By walking back home and still thinking about the frames of animation, it is very easy for one to think "This is a place is worth visiting again. I'll be back soon."
