Small town strangeness and campus shennanigans

Before Giant Days, there was Scary Go Round, a web comic by John Allison. Beginning in 2002, Scary Go Round loosely followed on from his even earlier web comic, Bobbins. It starts out being about two barmaids named Tessa and Rachel, then evolves, as web comics are wont to do, into a different kind of story involving bizarre occult events.

There are murders, zombies, mad science, and evil sentient gas. Back in its day, Scary Go Round won several awards and garnered plenty of critical praise. The art is pretty basic, but you can see the bones of what is to come, with lots of small-town high jinks and witty banter. It suffers a bit by comparison with more modern comics, but it is full of a glorious, bonkers energy that makes it still a fun read.
