Am lucky to live in the heart of the greatest city in the world. I love finding new and exciting experiences and wandering around exploring my home town. Don't forget to look up!
Hot stuff to do in Melbourne
As winter is fully upon us, a month long event run presented by the City of Melbourne is enticing people out and about to experience what this wonderful city has to offer. Over 80 businesses are involved offering special winter menus, art installations, one-off special events, fun activities and open nights. Enjoy rugging up, walking the city streets and discovering new places to experience and appreciate.
Warm up in winter
Some examples of what's on offer are free mulled wine tastings at Gewurzhaus on Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout July. Using their own blended Gluhwein spices, the mulled wine is deliciously authentic and gets you in the mood to do some baking, which Gewurzhaus makes easy with some of their amazing spices - why not try to whip up some traditional Lebkuchen!
Some more of the amazing variety of events coming up are lessons in the perfect brewed coffee at Assembly in Carlton, an in-house butchery demonstration at Little Hunter, classic Kung Fu movies every Saturday at Double Happiness, art installations at Quirk and Co, free specialty tea tasting at Craft Victoria library and plenty more! There is seriously something for everyone and I'm sure a few activities you couldn't even dream up.
There are also some standalone major events during the month.
On Thursday, 18 July, 6-9pm, Albert Coates Lane is staying open late with activities, free tastings and discount shopping. Come visit this cute little lane with its myriad of interesting boutiques, unique gifts and entertainment.
There is Nite Art on Wednesday, 24 July, from 6 -11pm. There will be four precincts offering themed art walks, artist talks and panels discussions with over 56 artists involved from more than 21 Galleries and artist run spaces. Enjoy meandering down Guildford Lane, Upper Bourke St, Flinders Lane and up in North Melbourne. Visit Nite Art for more info.
Also on Thursday, 25 July, 6 -9pm, Flinders Lane Shopping Night is back for the second year.
