Lonnies Cafe is situated on the corner of Bay Road and Harvey Street, at Port Broughton, South Australia. It is co-located with a laundromat (for campers) and Nursery for plant lovers, so it always catches my eye as we pass by to reach the beach front. This weekend, I begged my companions to stop and try Lonnies Café.
Lonnies open early in the morning a serve breakfast with all your traditional bacon, egg, sausage, toast and tomato offerings. It was about 1:00 o'clock when we visited Lonnies and business had been brisk. They said they were "out of everything" as campers had even bought cakes whole!
Despite being depleted of stock, Lonnies managed to serve us tea and coffee, chocolate cake, homemade ham and pineapple rounds, and fresh focaccia. In fact, my friend ordered her focaccia lidded, but Lonnies interpreted that as two whole focaccia, which she shared with me.
Lonnies staff were incredibly friendly, chatting to us whenever they passed our table. The main eating area is alfresco and my friend asked whether she could get her little dogs out of the car and allow them to join us. The staff said yes and filled a water bowl for the dogs. I assume this is possible because the seating area is outside and the cooking area is safely inside. The food was also great!
