Long weekend is just around the corner and you are still wondering what to do during the extra time that you have off. Here are some suggestions for awesome places to visit within a relatively short driving distance from Sydney.

Located approximately 1.5 hours north of Sydney, Central Coast has plenty on offer regardless of whether you are after a relaxing, fun or action packed weekend. Perhaps you are thinking of a romantic trip or one with your family. I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed.

Segway Central Coast
Address: Mount Penang Gardens

Who knew you can have so much fun on two wheels? Looking at a Segway for the first time, I wasn't convinced it was going to rock my world, but after stepping on it and seeing how it works, I was blown away at how much fun it really is. The Segway, also known as a personal transporter's speed is controlled by your balance – if you lean forward it goes forward … the more you lean forward, the faster it goes. Lean slightly back and it stops. Lean further back and you move backwards. You have to be at least 9 years of age and weigh between 40-117kg to ride it, but other than that, there are no restrictions. Find out more about Segway Central Coast .

Aqua Fun
Ficus Avenue, Avoca Lake

This is a great activity if you are travelling with family or friends. Aquafun allows you to hire pedal boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards. You can hire each for as little as ½ hour or if you enjoy water sports, spend several hours and try all of them. You don't need to book ahead – simply turn up and pay as you go. Cost is only $18 per hour for adults and $12 for children. Or you can get a family pass for only $50. Find out more about Aqua Fun .

Vera's Water Garden
The Entrance Road, The Entrance

If you haven't been to the Entrance before, then I highly recommend you spend at least a day there. Vera's Water Garden is a small water park located near Memorial Park. It is the perfect location for a day of fun. Children will be occupied for hours as they splash at the water park or play at one of two playgrounds. On the weekends and during school holidays, Memorial Park has additional rides and activities. And every afternoon, watch pelicans fly in and get fed. Find out more about The Entrance .

You will find some stunning beach along the Central Coast. Whether you enjoy swimming, surfing or boogie boarding, there is a beach for you. Check out some of Central Coast's best beaches:

A great place to escape for peace and quiet, Mount Penang Gardens are made up of 12 garden rooms, each with its own unique theme. You will find plenty of Australian native plants as well as wildlife including cockatoos, frogs, rabbits and lizards. Oaks Waterfront Resort
The Entrance Road, The Entrance

For excellent accommodation in the heart of the Entrance, you can't go past the Oaks Waterfront Resort with self contained apartments, a gym, large rooftop swimming pool and children's wading pool.
