I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

The local vines
Vineyards have been part of the Hastings Valley landscape since the 1830s and
Long Point Vineyard & Art Gallery in Lake Cathie is one of the more well known.

Enjoy the natural surrounds
Wine is produced from grapes grown on the estate. White wines are produced from chardonnay, frontignac and verdehlo varieties whilst chambourcin and cabernet are used for red wines. The range of wines available for tasting is small but of high quality.

The cellar gallery
As well as wine they produce a delicious alcoholic ginger beer (6 pack for $30), a tawny port and a couple of interesting liqueurs. Our favourite was the '
Sublime' which was similar to a limoncello and we were told the controversially named
'Agent Orange' is quite popular with Vietnam War veterans.

The entry to the wine tasting area
The gentleman conducting the tastings was very friendly and generous with his time and knowledge, and you could feel the genuine passion he had for his occupation.

Art in the gardens
For those not interested in wine tasting there is plenty to see in the gallery and grounds. The pieces shown are changed on a regular basis and highlight the work of local artists.
Long Point Vineyard is also available for function hire and they have lovely BBQ area with a large deck overlooking the grounds.
