Looking for somewhere deliciously different?
'Googling' for a local restaurant to dine at on a recent Saturday night, lead us to the Golf Club at North Lakes. The restaurant there, Lomandra's had a line on their website stating that they were "the North Brisbane restaurant with a delicious difference". Well that intrigued us, we had to go and check it out.
Lomandra's is located at the North Lakes resort golf club and is open from 7am until 3pm everyday for breakfast, lunch and snacks in between. It is open for dinner until late on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Choice of seating areas include, indoors in their relaxed dining room or outdoors on the deck. The outdoor deck area would be quite nice for breakfast overlooking the golf course. We sat inside on this particular night as the outside area was close due to the mosquitos.
We were greeted and served by friendly staff who explained the menu and the specials on offer. For starters we shared the house made prawn and ginger spring rolls which went down a treat with our Shiraz.
My main was the house made gnocchi with braised beef cheek, chilli tomato ragout and baby spinach ($26) I would have to say that my dish was deliciously different as the tender beef cheek with the pasta was something that I hadn't seen before. My husband choose the Twice Cooked Pork Belly, with sweet potato purée, seared scallops and Bok choy ($34). His dish was also very tasty with his only criticism was that the Pork was slightly dry but the crackle on top was perfect. Our dishes were very generous in serving sizes which sadly left no room for dessert. Oh maybe next time...
The menu was quite varied and they had a lot of gluten free options and vegetarian options. The menus for breakfast and lunches also looked delicious and we have decided to return for breakfast in the near future.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were very accommodating. We had a nice bonus at the end of the evening as being locals, we were able to sign up for their Club Card which entitled us to 10% off our bill. This Club Card is free of charge for local residents and gives you a 10% discount on all food and drinks at the restaurant. Good to know.
So we are happy to add Lomandra's to our list of local restaurants to go to especially with our 10% discount card.
