Gold Creek is full of funny little shops of wonders, and The Lolly Shop puts heart and soul into sourcing sweets from all around the world. It's one of my favourite places in Canberra, because it brings out that Willy Wonka-esque sense of wonder that takes people straight back to their childhood.
Some of the lollies on offer are Dutch salted liquorice, Reese's Pieces, and Jelly Belly Jelly Beans (in a wondrous array so you can choose your own perfect selection - I highly recommend peanut butter, apple cinnamon, and buttered popcorn, although not combined in a single mouthful).
The staff are passionate about what they do, and the shop itself is a little like the TARDIS from "Doctor Who" - you'll be amazed at the array they have inside.
The word "lolly" originates in Victorian-era Australia. It was first seen in print in the 1860s.
