Do you crave strawberries at midnight?
For residents of Logan and surrounding areas, the opening of Logan Discount Fruit Barn, owned and managed by brothers Ken and Rani, is a great convenience being opened 24 hours and most importantly as Ken advised 'It is a True Discount Store, at any given time there are at least 20 items on sale for under $1.00.'

As a chef, Ken values quality fresh produce and his passion is evident in the fresh, crisp products that fill the selves. The store is bright, colourful clean and fresh with attractive displays and wide aisles, no smells of 'rotten tomatoes'. Fresh fruit and vegetables are in abundance, which is restocked regularly maintaining great quality control. Among others the popular products are taro and green cooking bananas, Lebanese coffee, pure butter ghee, natural honey. Macadamia nuts at $4.99kg, 10kg Sun Rice at $15.99 and Pasta sauce at 0.50c was a great attraction to the customers on the day that I visited.

There are delicious specialty dips, Greek yoghurts, cheeses, deli meats, olives, peppers and fresh juices in the fridge section. I noticed fizzy drinks were limited and replaced by many natural drinks.

The store also stocks international foods and caters for the diverse cultural mix of the local community. There's a multitude of different bags of nuts, salted, unsalted, mixed, fruit and nuts, flavoured nuts and sweet treats. If you enjoy cooking with spice there is no shortage, Ken also suggests quick and easy recipes to his customers if required. Imported and local relishes, jams, spreads, sauces, and pickles are also available. All food is Halal. There is a great selection of all your shisha requirements. It is a one stop shop, well located on the main street, with handy off road parking.

Speaking with Ken he advised his objective is to change the mentality from the convenience of servo food at midnight to quality fresh healthy options day and night at discounted prices. Many of his late night shoppers are shift workers, members of 24 hour gyms, pregnant woman having all night cravings, taxi drivers, the one I found unusually interesting were people that had admitted friends or family to hospital and needed to purchase healthy food. This new store already attracts customers from Logan to the Gold Coast.

The store worth a visit day or night: it never closes. Happy Shopping.
