The 2021 NAIDOC - Healing Country event in the Lockyer Valley features fun and live entertainment. Performers include Sharon Mirii Bell, the terrific Yugara Dancers and the Inala Elders Singing Group. There is also a Deadly Talent Quest with a $200 prize pool. You can explore over 40 market and information stalls along. There will be great food for sale, including bush tucker, plus free activities for the kids. It is being held on 24 September at Ferrari Park in Laidley. It kicks off at 10.00 am and runs for four hours of fun until 2.00 pm. So grab the whole family for this special celebration of an ancient culture.
This is an important event for the Lockyer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as it is the time each year they can all come together with the wider community and showcase their culture and many talents. This event also helps bridge the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in a nurturing and celebratory way.
If you don't know the area, it's a good time to explore. The Lockyer Valley Region is a local government area in the West Moreton region of South East Queensland, Australia, between the cities of Ipswich and Toowoomba. It was created in 2008 from a merger of the Shire of Gatton and the Shire of Laidley. For more information on this event, see
Facebook.
