Lock N Load Bistro (142 Boundary Street) is the perfect embodiment of its West End location. Let's see... gastro-pub style food? Check. Loads of vegetarian options? Check. A focus on local artists? Leafy outdoors eating area? Smart casual atmosphere? Check, check, check. Yep, there's no way that this eatery could have opened anywhere else.

Lock N Load is a restaurant and bar located in a beautiful heritage listed building. The establishment has three sections. The deceptively narrow front sector houses a fully stocked cocktail bar. The restaurant then opens up into an indoor eating area. Outside is a more informal shady courtyard for eating or nursing a drink.

This restaurant serves lunch and dinner throughout the week, and also breakfast on weekends. The food is fancy English pub style, such as wagyu beef burgers, char grilled sirloin steak, gourmet sandwiches on Turkish break and strawberry sundae. Of course, the vegetarians are well looked after; actually, the haloumi and grilled zucchini burger is delicious.

The Lock N Load Arts Program seeks to promote Australian artists and to provide customers with a cultural outlet. Their online art gallery showcases a rotating roster of paintings, drawings, installations and photography. Performances from local musicians also provide entertainment for punters on the weekends.

Lock N Load Bistro operates from 10.00am until late Monday to Friday and 7.00am until late on weekends, and is open for meals, drinks and art appreciation.
