Buon appetito in the heart of Deakin
One of the best things about Canberra is the local shops because tucked away in the leafy and not so leafy suburbs are some pretty funky cafes and restaurants serving up some pretty amazing coffee and food.
The suburb of Deakin is located in Canberra's inner south and home to the Royal Australian Mint, several embassies, Calvary John James Hospital and of course, the Lodge, where the Prime Minister officially resides. But Deakin (named after Alfred Deakin, Australia's second Prime Minister) is also home to Locale Pizzeria, which in my opinion serves up some of the best pizza this side of Italy.
Locale Pizzeria offers generous servings and the waitstaff are efficient, prompt, helpful and friendly. We will certainly go back again to try out more of their delicious menu.
Price ranges from $10-$28 for starters, $24-$34 for old favourites (such as pasta dishes), and $22-$25 for pizzas. Desserts range from $5 to $16. There is also a kids' menu. Wine, beers, cocktails, spirits and cold beverages are also available.
Locale Pizzeria is located at Shop 5, Deakin Shops, Deakin. Look out for the motorbike at the front!
Locale is open for LUNCH Tues-Sun 12pm-3pm and DINNER Tues-Sun 5pm-Late. Please note that a 10% surcharge applies on Sundays, with 15% on public holidays. Split billing is not allowed.
Visit www.localepizzeria.com.au or phone 6162 2888. However, they do get very busy, so if you need to urgently talk to staff, it's best to go to their Facebook page and send them a message.
