South East Queensland is surrounded by a wide range of agricultural environments, a variety of different farms and of course, there other natural beauties to see. offer a way to see, experience and taste some of the best of this region.

About Local Taste Discoveries

Craig Middleton loves the rural lifestyle. He even studied agricultural science and currently lives with his wife Alice in Boonah and loves the locals, the scenery, the food and the experience. It is his joy of the area and everything it offers that he wants to share.

He set up as a way to let more people experience the best secrets of what is basically his backyard. Each tour has a maximum of 10 people and creates intimate experiences for groups of people who love food and want to learn about local secrets.

Tours pick up from the Brisbane CBD but can also pick up people if they are on the way, so it is a great way to get out into the countryside even if you don't have a car.

The biggest downside is Craig will insist on telling jokes on the tour. You remember those from back in the day, before joke-telling involved forwarding people memes and trying to describe a funny video you saw on YouTube. He will also invite you to tell some jokes as well, so prepare a few of your best ones before joining a tour. I would suggest a few jokes about city folk visiting the countryside will make him laugh.

Scenic Rim Farm Gate Discovery

This tour gets you out on the farms, and, if you want, in the dirt picking your vegetables. You will also have the opportunity to visit a camel farm, local butchers, brewery and various scenic and historic locations. Enjoy a great lunch with locally grown produce.

Local Wine Discovery

This tour visits the Sirromet Winery in Mt Cotton, which uses grapes grown in the Granite Belt. It has a great reputation for Queensland's best wines and you will see behind the scenes processes for winemaking, as well as enjoy great local produce for lunch, and of course, sample multiple wines as part of the package.

Camel Farm Discovery

This half-day tour visits Summer Land Camels, where you will have a chance to feed the camels, try various camel milk products, and also enjoy both morning tea and lunch with local produce.

Coming Soon: Local Indulgence Discovery

Always looking to add additional options onto the tour schedule, they are planning this new tour which will give you some of the best local flavours of the area, including coffee, chocolate, rum, and wine.

Private Groups

Local Taste Discoveries can also put together private tours of between 4 and 10 people with customised itineraries. Enjoy the best of the region tailored to your tastes and pace.

Overall

Tours can be a great way to enjoy certain experiences and Craig Middleton creates a great tour with a friendly country attitude, genuine relationships with the businesses he visits and of course, a passion for the best of the region. Whether you are a visitor to South East Queensland or a local, there is always something more to discover here.
