Kenmore's Best Kept Secret
[ADVERT]Not feeling so flash after my doctor's appointment one day I decided to treat myself to a skinny flat white at Local Bean Cafe just ten metres from the medical centre. Any excuse for a coffee.

Local Bean Cafe aka Big Bean is situated in a relatively quiet shopping complex on Moggill Road in Kenmore. This is not where I would normally hang out (except to get the occasional milk from the 7-11) because there are only a few shops here .

I walked past the tables set up outside, which has increased probably due to their growing popularity, and in to the counter. At 11:30am it was fairly quiet and I did wonder whether or not the outside tables would fill up. Anyway, I was told it was table service (sweet!) so I found myself a nice cosy corner inside. There was something about being on my own and sitting outside that I didn't like. The waitress came over promptly, poured me a glass of water, and took my order. I looked at the menu and decided to have something to eat as well: an omelette with mushrooms, tomato and bacon.

My mug of skinny flat white came and it was beautiful. So smooth and tasty! My omelette was scrumptious! There were whole cherry tomatoes, chunks of mushrooms and bacon pieces in the omelette garnished with rocket. Perfect balance of flavours. I was in two minds about choosing bacon because it can make the omelette quite salty, but I was glad I did. The omelette was plump and fluffy with the inside slightly underdone (not runny though) and outside smooth. Just the way I like it. What's more, the sourdough was toasted to perfection.

Everything on the plate was delicious, even the rocket. It was a big plate, I am a small person, but I finished it all except for the butter. It was 12.30pm when I walked out and was quite surprised to see only one or two spare tables. I could see why though.

It is a great cafe and certainly beats other local ones around the area. I just love it how they have table service and not having to ask for water was awesome too.

For me, the little things do matter. There is variety on the menu, plenty of seating, lots of parking, excellent coffee, friendly staff and awesome food. What more can you ask for? If you're in the area, definitely try this cafe, or at least their coffee. They offer cakes, sandwiches and pasta as well as breakfast and lunch.

If you're in a rush and are having caffeine withdrawal symptoms, why not SMS your order to Little Bean Espresso Bar (0414340436) located just across the road from Big Bean. You don't even have to wait. Just drive (or walk) through and collect.
