When you know you need to spoil yourself, or perhaps you're out and about with that special friend, you need to treat yourself. A bubbly lunch comes into the equation, and if you find yourself on the Paris end of Collins Street, you won't need to look too hard for some simple indulgences. The Lobby Lounge at The Westin in Melbourne is pleasantly surprising.
I know it sounds posh, however you're not forbidden for taking your shoes off and perching your feet on the couch, and that is if you and your bestie are lucky enough to nab a seat on the comfortable blue couch. Be prepared to spend a little bit of moola (heck, you only live once) and enjoy the quality conversations as they unfold. In other words, just go with the flow.
The ambience is just stunning. The space at the Lobby Lounge is rather airy, spacious and inviting. The tiles and the blue carpet appears to be squeaky clean and rather shiny, and the charm evident with the positive energy of people having a great time means you've chosen the right place for a light lunch to share with some bubbly in tow. Definitely a European feel with the plush chairs too. One of my friends (who was with me at the time) was taken away by the green wreath above the fire place area with two bookshelves on either side.
The service is posh and rather excellent. Take your time here, no one cares. The French charm was well and truly alive, and after all I was on a mini holiday for a couple of days. It was a no brainer to opt for a glass of Moet and Chandon ($30) and my friend opted for the same. It was great to also receive a jug of water to share, alongside some complimentary pretzel like snacks.
In terms of having something to eat, the seafood pizza ($29) to share did not disappoint. The serving sizes were just right. My only qualm was that the pizza cooled down a little too quickly. The cheese topping was just right, and the prawns were juicy and perfectly cooked. Definitely a flavoursome pizza. The food was a solid accompaniment to the champagne and great company all round.
Although the bill at the end of the day did not come cheap, it was a real pleasure to pay for it. The experience and the service overall was that good. Just don't go out on a whim and find yourself enjoying a half a litre tub of Ben and Jerry's ice cream along the Yarra at nearby South Bank afterwards. I highly recommend this lounge, and will definitely be coming back another time.
Thank you very much for the awesome lunch experience
