Lake Macquarie City's Council has added a new festival to their schedule this year – The , which celebrates multiculturalism in the community. The festival is being held on Sunday 25th September 2022 from 9.00am to 2.00pm.



Over the course of the day, there will be heaps of entertainment, workshops, demonstrations, market stalls, world music, international cooking glasses, global gardens, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and language sessions. If you want to know the programme times, go to the website, however, to give you an overview of what to expect during the day, please read the below briefs on each event. MC for the day is Yurii Chuchenko, who is an actor, TV Presenter and Chef.

Meditation – This class will be conducted by Tibetan Monk, Lobsang Palden and the session also includes Tibetan Tradition Circle Dance, Girl's Country Dance and a Children's Musical Performance.First Nations Zone, which is sponsored by Hunter Water will include Aboriginal weaving, art and dance workshops, Elder Talks, Bush Tucker Workshops and a demonstration on canoe building.



Language Zone – learning a new language is a great way to break down barriers and make new friends. During this event, you will learn how to write your name and introduce yourself in a variety of languages.Main Stage Dance & Music – will incorporate musical performances from local bands and dance performances from around the world.Cultural Workshop – here you will learn the art of African drumming, Afghan singing and dancing, Chinese dancing, Belly dancing and more.



Kid's Zone – In this area, there is a nature play area, petting zoo, face painting, arts and craft station and library Rover. This event is sponsored by Greater BankZumba Masterclass with Anna Kuskova – enjoy the blend of Ukrainian and Western pop music when have fun moving your body to Anna's instruction.Upcycle Zone – you will have fun turning trash into treasure with a number of hands-on upcycling activities. The workshops include making your own dog toys and pet beds from textile waste, DIY Veggie Bags and Marine debris-to-art sessions. Recycling and residing in a sustainable society are creating the world a better place to live.Home Grown and Homemade Markets – all things homemade and eco focused will be on sale at the markets.Discovery Trail – feel like a walk to get the heart pumping, well, there are two shared pathways that each end up at Speers Point Park. Either start at Warners Bay Foreshore or Edwards Park Boolaroo and meet up with friends at the park.

If you cannot attend the , there are two other events happening at Speers Point Park on Friday and Saturday, which are in conjunction with this festival. These are " Feast for the Senses ", which is a dinner under the stars and on Friday 23rd September from 6.00 to 9.00pm and " Living Smart Festival ", which is a sustainability event on Saturday 24 September 2022 from 9.00am to 2.00pm.

Your whole weekend can be taken up with some great events and inspirational subjects where you can go home so much more learned than before.
