Living Landscapes is an event inviting you to create and contribute your own 3D plant to a virtual landscape that will then turn into reality. For every virtual plant you draw, a real one will be planted at La Trobe University's Wildlife Sanctuary, to help protect this important habitat for generations to come.
It's at the
NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) Gallery Cafe (or Kitchen), 180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne, from Friday 13 January to 10 March 2017 from 5.30pm to 1030pm. Cost is included with
NGV's entrance fee on Friday Nights .
La Trobe University is using virtual technology to create a greener future. Visitors to the
NGV's Friday Nights can explore their artistic talents to protect the iconic Melbourne landmark.
In keeping with NGV's current
David Hockney exhibition, you can hand draw digital trees and plants in Hockney-inspired colours and brush strokes and create a virtual forest that'll be translated to a real-life forest that creates long-lasting benefits for the environment.
Your digital masterpiece created on an iPad will then move over a virtual scale replica of the University's 30 hectare
Wildlife Sanctuary , where you can digitally 'plant' your creation. Every virtual plant equals one in reality at the Sanctuary, which will help protect this valuable Bundoora research facility for future generations. It also sounds like fun!
As the official learning partner of the NGV's David Hockney exhibition, La Trobe is the only University to provide students with an accredited subject conducted within the gallery exhibitions. Find them on
